As a proud resident of The Hague and a Leiden University alumnus, I am very pleased that Leiden University has come to The Hague and continues to expand. The Hague is a beautiful city but lacked a university. This absence impacted the city's atmosphere, activity, and knowledge culture. With the arrival of Leiden University, this gap is slowly but surely being filled, and The Hague is transforming into a vibrant student city. Years ago, former rector magnificus Carel Stolker invited me to exchange ideas about the university's presence in The Hague, which I greatly appreciated. I closely follow the developments and eagerly look forward to the opening of the new Spui building. Thank you, Leiden University, for making The Hague an even more enjoyable and lively city.
