Professor Robert Feenstra inspired me. He was not only an eminent jurist and legal historian with an impressive list of honours and numerous special publications. He inspired numerous students, especially in the smaller setting of tutorials and not forgetting in the privacy of the Philips van Leyden association. He taught them a love for the profession. It is no coincidence that many of his students and PhD candidates have reached high positions in the judiciary. Some of them have been appointed as justices in the Supreme Court.
