The start of this academic year marked the start of my job at Leiden University. Despite having lived in the city for years, I had never been inside the university buildings. The Academy Building had always fascinated me but was fairly unknown territory to me. This all changed with a guided tour by Het Gilde Leiden. The building’s history was revealed to be a real-life fairy tale – just like Victor de Stuers’s secret drawings. It’s an enchanting building that symbolises the university’s sweeping history. May many more memories be made and successes celebrated here for years to come.
