When I first came face to face with the Lipsius building as a first-year, it didn’t immediately feel like a warm welcome. The metal grilles and lack of colour made the faculty building look a bit gloomy. But, since then, this steel building has grown on me to become a place that represents all that is good about Leiden University. It is where I go for lectures and lunch, and where I see my friends and make new ones. Lipsius’s exterior has never detracted from how it feels inside. I’ll secretly miss it when I graduate.
