Universiteit Leiden

The university intertwined with the city My study time

Contribution: Christine Smittenaar (Alumnus of Dutch Language and Literature)

Leiden University is intertwined with the city, my little town, with my life, and with the life of at least one of my children. That is why I am so proud of my Alma Mater. I made lifelong friends there, worked with inspiring people, attended lectures, meetings, lunches, ceremonies, and protests in beautiful (and less beautiful) buildings. I played sports at the sports center, studied in the Hortus, and soaked up culture at the LAK. I was present at the honorary doctorate ceremonies for Princess Beatrix and Mandela.

In short: I learned a lot and had the best time of my life there: my study time. It is precisely this complete picture that makes me a fan, enthusiast, and super-ambassador.
