The statue can be seen in multiple ways. As the divine Christ child with his chosen mother. Or as an archetypal young mother who loves and protects her child. It can also refer to the university and its students, staff and alumni, or in other words, its children. Mutual respect, love, protection, encouragement and pride are inherent in this.
