Erik Noach, a professor of pharmacology, was the guardian angel who helped me pass my finals. After discovering during the exam that a statement I had made was incorrect, and feeling utterly despondent, I still passed because I was able to prove and argue that what I had claimed was not true. Many years later, I met Professor Noach again at a Cleveringa Lecture in Arnhem. He said he remembered the incident, which I don't believe but found amusing nonetheless.
