My ‘best thing’ about the university is my old Art History Institute at Kloksteeg 25. Today, it houses the restaurant Het Prentenkabinet, with apartments above. While not the most practical building, it was certainly the most atmospheric. How fitting to accommodate budding art historians in such a historic location, in a centuries-old building with a history dating back to the 13th century. The surroundings, in the shadow of the Pieterskerk, have inspired many. Fortunately, the layout of the ground floor has remained largely unchanged, and the beautiful city garden is still there. Only the smoking room has disappeared. In 1981, we moved to the newly built facility on Doelensteeg. It never quite managed to capture the charm of Kloksteeg 25.
