Contribution: Joris Brattinga (archeology alumnus)

Jan Hendrik Holwerda (1873-1951), known as the 'godfather' of Dutch archaeology, served as both teacher and curator, as well as director of the National Museum of Antiquities. In the early 20th century, Holwerda was a pioneer in making Dutch archaeology accessible to a broad audience. He achieved this by quickly publishing his excavation findings and organizing museum exhibitions.
