The smell of books in the library The Special Collections reading room

The Special Collections reading room

Contribution: Frederik de Wolff (emeritus professor of clinical and forensic toxicology)

The Special Collections reading room at the University Library. While I'm studying a medieval Hebrew manuscript from 1150, someone else is looking at the forensic toxicological report on Goeie Mie from 1883. And across the way, someone is studying letters from a well-known 19th-century author. Nothing beats the smell of books in the University Library. And nothing is as valuable as the vast collection of unique items in the Special Collections.
