Advice to Beatrix

Advice to Beatrix

Contribution: Cora Baldock-Vellekoop (Sociology and History alumnus)

I studied in Leiden from 1954 to 1964, first Sociology and later History. During my years as a Sociology student, I was part of the Faculty Board. In that role, I gave some advice to then-Crown Princess Beatrix. I am in this photo, taken during the faculty of Sociology’s dies celebration in 1957, sitting next to her (in the middle — I’m the one with glasses). After my studies and work at the then Sociological Institute on the Rapenburg, I worked in New Zealand, the US, and Australia. I always look back with great pride on my education in Leiden, it played such an important role in my later career.
